EN - Last week the Chanel Collection Croisière Show took place in Cap d'Antibes, French Riviera, at the Hotel Du Cap-Eden-Roc that is possibly the most expensive hotel in the world, as Karl Lagerfeld himself pointed out. Cap d'Antibes is poles apart from Saint-Tropez (where the last Chanel Cruise collection was presented a year ago), even if they are distant few hours down the coast. "This is the other side of paradise", said the designer. The Hotel Du Cap-Eden-Roc has a degree of extravagance that former fishing village Saint-Tropez doesn't aspire to. Rita Hayworth and Aly Khan, former habitués of this hotel, inspired this collection. "I saw everything from a day at the beach to a wedding," commented the actress Rachel Bilson. Indeed this Chanel's Cruise collection covers an almost-infinity of options, last but not least because it stays in stores longer than any other of the collections that Lagerfeld designs each year for the label.

IT - La scorsa settimana la collezione Chanel Croisière è stata presentata a Cap d'Antibes, in Costa Azzurra, all'Hotel Du Cap-Eden-Roc, il quale è probabilmente uno degli hotel più cari al mondo, come ha fatto presente lo stesso Karl Lagerfeld. Cap d'Antibes è agli antipodi rispetto a Saint-Tropez (dove un anno fa è stata presentata la scorsa collezione Chanel Cruise), nonostante le due località distino l'una dall'altra soltanto poche ore di macchina lungo la costa. "Questa è l'altra parte del paradiso", ha detto lo stilista. L'Hotel Du Cap-Eden-Roc ha un livello di lusso al quale l'ex villaggio di pescatori non aspira. Rita Hayworth e Aly Khan, ospiti habitué di questo albergo, hanno ispirato questa collezione. "Ho visto di tutto, dall'abbigliamento da spiaggia a quello da matrimonio", ha commentato l'attrice Rachel Bilson. Questa collezione assicura effettivamente un'ampia gamma di scelta, non ultimo perché, tra tutte le collezioni Chanel, è quella che rimane più a lungo nei negozi.

Olivia chic

EN - Out and about in New York City, Olivia Palermo is, as usual, elegant and simple too (if you are confused about how to define a certain outfit "but... is it simple or elegant?!", it means that who created it scored a hit). No pattern, no print, only three colours (but one of them is black), Olivia Palermo follows the golden rules of a minimal elegance, very refined too. The style details? The maxi bag (a maxi accessory matches always good with a sober outfit) and the bag not coordinated with the shoes. In her precious guide La Parisienne, Inès de la Fressange warns us that the coordination of the colour of the bag with the one of the shoes ages the women after their thirtieth birthday. Olivia exemplary student!

IT - In giro per New York in una giornata primaverile, Oliva Palermo è, come sempre, elegantissima ed anche molto semplice (quando si rimane confusi nel definire un look "ma... è semplice o elegante?!", allora chi l'ha creato ha colpito nel segno). Nessuna fantasia, capi a tinta unita, tre colori addosso (ma uno è il nero), Oliva Palermo segue le regole auree di un'eleganza minimal ma molto ricercata. I dettagli che fanno stile? La maxi bag (un maxi accessorio si accosta sempre bene ad un look sobrio) e la borsa non abbinata alle scarpe. Anche la cara Inès de la Fressange, nella sua preziosa guida allo chic La Parisienne, ci avverte che, dopo i 30 anni, abbinare il colore della borsa a quello delle scarpe invecchia. Olivia studentessa modello!

Decontextualization

EN - I love the classic style: the string of pearls, the court shoes with medium heel, the pleated skirts, the cigarette pants, the white shirts... nevertheless I realize that I should be sometimes a mould-breaker, without changing drastically my style, but enriching it of a creative touch that would make it less ordinary. I am not interested in the mix & match, I don't even want to look like just jumped out from a fashion magazine, with all the latest fads on me. The excesses are not for me. The tastefulness above all. What do I seek? Just a small roguery... I mean turning upside down a style rule with so much creativity that a new style is born. Inès de la Fressange, in her book La Parisienne, helped me and, among the numerous advices, one was very illuminating for me: the decontextualization of a detail. The string of pearls with a leather jacket. The diamonds worn during the day with jeans and Converse. The lady bag with a t-shirt. An evening dress without the boring 12 centimetres heels but with the ballerinas. A bouclé jacket on the leggings. The cammeo brooch of the grandmother on a white t-shirt. The decontextualization of a detail gives the sought-after effortless style... that obviously requires a triple effort with respect to a conventional style. But it is absolutely priceless being the only one with ballerinas at a party and, in spite of this, being the most admired (walking fluently wins over walking in a tottering way!), or being the classiest at an aperitif, with the string of pearls and the straw bag instead of the latest predictable it-bag!

IT - Mi piacciono molto i capi e gli accessori classici: il filo di perle, le décolleté mezzo tacco, le gonne a pieghe, i pantaloni a sigaretta, le camicie bianche... tuttavia mi rendo conto che a volte dovrei uscire un po' dagli schemi, senza stravolgere radicalmente il mio stile, ma arricchendolo di quel tocco estroso che lo renderebbe meno ordinario. Il mix & match non mi interessa, sembrare appena uscita da una rivista di moda, con addosso tutte le ultime tendenze del momento, neanche. Gli eccessi non fanno per me. Il buongusto prima di tutto. Cosa cerco? Semplicemente una piccola monelleria... capovolgere una regola di stile con creatività tale da crearne uno nuovo. La cara Inès de la Fressange, nel suo libro La Parisienne, mi è venuta in soccorso e, tra i tanti trucchi e consigli proposti, uno in particolare mi ha illuminata: la decontestualizzazione di un dettaglio. Il filo di perle con la giacca di pelle. I diamanti portati di giorno con jeans e Converse. La borsa da signora con una t-shirt. Un abito da sera senza i noiosissimi tacchi 12 ma con le ballerine. La giacca in bouclé sopra i leggings. Il cameo della nonna su una tee bianca. Tutto ciò dona l'ambitissimo stile effortless... che ovviamente richiede il triplo degli sforzi rispetto allo stile convenzionale. Tuttavia, essere l'unica in ballerine ad una festa ed essere la più ammirata (vogliamo mettere camminare con passo felino anziché con andatura traballante?!), oppure essere quella con più classe all'aperitivo, con il filo di perle e la borsa di paglia (invece della scontatissima it-bag del momento), è semplicemente priceless!
